Ever heard of the "little death"? La petite morte was expression used for the ahem moment of ecstasy. Shouldn't wonder if this is where that expression came from. Linguistics is so much fun.
Oh, dear. No, I don't think this will do at all. This is not a hymn. It's an impassioned love song. They made it sound like something you sing in a church choir with your face turned up to stare at the angels on the ceiling. They sing beautifully but, the song should not be interpretted thus.
I thought it was a very sweet arrangement. This isn't like Wagner, a slavish attempt to "copy" to Baroque (let alone Renaissance) pieces is counter-productive, and it looks like everyone had a lot of fun doing it. And whether "to die" means doing the dirty do or not, I liked the kids' voices.
my choir class in high school sound pretty good when we do this ppiece

So smooth and beautiful. There are so many ways to interpret this wonderful piece. I really like this one.
