The swimmers were getting ready to go into the sandy beach corral.
This is the 91st Annual Polar Bear Swim! There was over 2,000 swimmers and 4 -5 times as many watchers this year.
The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. Its initial swim was in 1920 when a small number of hardy swimmers took the plunge into English Bay on New Year's Day. The swim has grown from 10 in the first year, to thousands present day.
