The completion of two years' work was recently celebrated with a ceremony in Barren County. The occasion was the opening of two additional sections of the roadway known as the Glasgow Outer Loop. The outer loop will provide an alternate route for commercial and emergency vehicles that would otherwise have to pass through downtown Glasgow. The 3.5 miles of outer loop were funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. So far, nearly $40.5 million has been spent on construction of the 9 mile loop, with four of the five sections now completed. The remaining 2.2 mile section will connect U.S. 68 to the Cumberland Parkway with an interchange. It's all part of creating another link in the transportation network that serves south-central Kentucky.
