@drahm33 I know how you feel. I'm currently in the agriculture field, but I've learned to pick my battles. Too many people get caught up with their emotions when it comes to animals, and swallow this propaganda like it's the nectar of the gods.
I'm kind of guilty of that too, for when I was in high school, I ate up this propaganda like no other.
Now that I've actually WORKED in the agriculture field while studying at a university, I see how naive I was.
I appreciate the efforts to make these animals' lives as comfortable as possible.
We've seen exactly what happens when we use large farming methods. "Free-range", "cage-free" means nothing. It's all intensive farming, and the animals always suffer when economics is the objective. These aren't animal shelters, they're death camps.
We don't need to eat animals. Because of this, and the fact we constantly perverse any efforts to help them, shouldn't we also see to ban animal agriculture entirely?
My small flock of chickens are free ranged in a chemical free environment of pasture and trees. The eggs are vastly superior to battery produced eggs. The birds are healthy, full of life, and produce far longer than a battery hen, up to 3 years vs 75 weeks. When I harvest a bird for the table, it is dispatched quickly. There is no finer meal, with a flavor and texture not found in commercial meats.
