I have to say, I'm very impressed! I've had the idea of making a violin for six months and I'm hoping to do it now in the summer (or at least get started on it). I went to speak to a luthier to ask his advice, and he basically told me not to bother, but you've inspired me not to give up! What was that you used for bending the ribs? Also the gauge at 4:31 is fascinating - did you make it yourself? thanks for posting the vid.

this piece makes me cry, especially after having a 7hr straight rehearsal for a play (and doing badly...)

Good job! Now try to get into an apprenticeship
with a good US maker or go to violin school.I
once made a classical guitar, and thought there
are numerous schools of lutherie of guitar, the
violin is where it's at! Cheers and Good Luck!

Most important: What does it sound like?

Not too Bright Not too Dark and very responsive with very high regestry. I've had a few proffesional violinist's try it out and they love the sound. One lady wanted to trade me for her 200 + year old violin, lol. But it's my first violin so I can't bring myself to give it up. I just got done making my second one and sounds almost as good as the first. The craftmanship has deffinately improved though. I am now selling them and taking orders if any one wants one.

Thank You,I spent around $500 for all the wood and tools which in't bad at all;I thout it would be closer to $1000.A few tipps I have are make sure your tools are extremely sharp because you will make 10 times mare mistakes with dull ones, and shapening them just once is't enough continuer to sharpen them through the process. One other Bit of advise Take your dear old time, don't rush any thing. Good Luck making it and when you finnish it please poast a picture or some thing so I can see it.
