An American oil company located in a South American town is looking for drivers to haul nitroglycerine over the rugged terrain. Four expatriated men who have nothing to lose take on the job, for which theyll each be given $10,000 and the reward of legal citizenshipif they live. Sorcerer is a 1977 action-adventure film, produced and directed by William Friedkin, starring Roy Scheider, Bruno Cremer, Francisco Rabal and Amidou. It is a remake of the 1953 French film Le Salaire de la Peur (Wages of Fear). Sorcerer followed Friedkin's highly successful The French Connection and The Exorcist.

  • At the end of this movie, NOBODY MADE IT! not even Scheider! What a piece of ART!

  • I love 'Annie Hall' but this was the best film of 1977.

  • @BossaNogi It came out a month AFTER Star Wars, but yes that was bad luck.

  • @tinpax1 This is due to european cut. Guys in 6:50 are assasins. There was a bounty on "Roy Schneider" head.

  • So what does the end scene mean when the two men come walking out of the car?

  • Great movie. Had the terrible misfortune of being released a week before "Star Wars."

  • @tabletka666

This is anything but a 'typical hollywood movie'.

  • Great movie even better than the cheezy orginal Wages of Fear also the ending in this version is just brilliant instead of the cheezy ending in the orginal where Mario drives off a cliff and dies - cheap irony - but Friekin's version of fate is devious and freighteningly true to life. Can't wait for the Bluray.

  • original film - The Wages of Fear, is so much better... and it has a completely different more realistic message than this typical hollywood movie...

  • Men may be men, but not like how they were represented in this classic all-time movie. Those who are young today, maybe, they can learn something, maybe not.

  • This is a good movie. It has it's flaws, but also has moments of total coolness and intensity: the trucks are like living animals, and the men are like machines.. It didn't do so well when it came out - the story is a bit disjointed and at times akward - but there is menace here, and authentic grittiness today's films can't quite pull off.
