Many students support affirmative action, in an effort to promote diversity. They argue that race-based preferences "level the playing field" for disadvantaged minorities. However, these same students refused to sign our petition to apply such policies to the basketball team. At UC Riverside -- where the video was filmed -- 10/11 active players on the team are African American. Why not use affirmative action to promote diversity there?

  • What strikes me as much as their staggering lack of thought and logic is the fact that none of these students, attending one of the best universities in the USA, can speak. They umm and ah, and use 'like' as punctuation. Absolutely appalling. The fact that they all have the vote is deeply disturbing. None of these people have the capacity to make a rational judgement. RUN FOR THE HILLS!

  • Damn, what a mindfuck this was for the liberal, middle class, YOOF, suddenly they themselves were conveying the common criticisms of affirmative action.

During some of the students' thought provoking "err, umm" explanations you can tell they're confronted with a conundrum: what they have been taught suddenly doesn't make any sense... You can actually pin point the moment when their biased, brainwashed, liberal souls are being extinguished.

  • @fredelina If you really wanted to make things fair them applications should have no space to identify race.

  • The difference is you have no history of whites being discriminated against on basketball teams, so no affirmative action is necessary - if a white player is talented, race is NOT stopping him from playing on a team.

There is, on the other hand, a history of racial discrimination in academia, and that is why Affirmitive Action makes sense as a means of solving that problem.

  • @Vengrence There are a lot of good Anglos/Whites out there, BUT do not forget that it was just 70 years ago that Whites (Germans) did support the extinction of peoples (Jews, Gypsies, GLBT's), & America, well, just ask Native Americans ; ) so you are right when you say not everyday ; ) But, historically, 90% of the world was colonized by Whites or within their zones of 'influences' (as China & Japan were ). You need to read factual history books instead of listening to talk radio.

  • This is the dumbest video I've seen in a long time. Congratulations.

  • I would be seen as 'liberal' in most instances, and even I find Affirmative Action (or my county's equivalent) to be stupid.

  • ha!,,,

  • Individuals SHOULD be based on their skill level, not their skin color, and that is precisely why affirmative action was necessary in the first place. The policy as is needs an overhaul to be sure. Having to fill a racial quota of employees is detestable, but if we didn't have AA at all then a business owner would be free to totally ignore skill level and hire people SOLELY on race. Some hardcore libertarians think that's a good idea. They aren't racist, but they aren't using common sense either

  • @JurassicCock255 You do realize that if whites were as evil, racist, murderous, ruthless as everyone claims we are, we'd have for one never stopped colonization. We'd be having exterminations everyday, murder of non-whites would be legal, etc. So really, you throw such things around, but don't realize what a world you'd be living in if they were actually true.
