The Royal family has had many instances of unexplained illnesses and premature death during it's history - George III's 'madness', the downfall of Mary Queen of Scots and Rasputin bringing down the Russian throne, can all be linked back to Queen Victoria.
This programme explores how, in trying to preserve the bloodline, the monarchy may have spread genetic disease far and wide - from Porphyria wreaking havoc with British royals to Haemophilia finding its way from Buckingham Palace, all the way to Moscow.

"the recovery was pure coincidence"?!?!!!! The one miserable error discovery documentaries make is approach everything from such utter atheism, it seems they've lost the entire plot. Christian healing is NOT a myth and Alexandra was intelligent enough to know that. She wasn't just a desperate mother who'd believe anyone. She understood what was at stake at such depth and had realised the power of prayer.

@lovechangengrowth hmm They are refereing to genetic hemophilla, where it is caused by genetic inbreeeding. Not all hemophilia is caused by inbreeding per say it can be spontanoeus, occuring out of no where in an individual or a famliy. Women carry the trait while men will suffer it. This is why Elizabetha was not symptomatic but her son Leopold was.Is it genetic or spontaneous in your family.

Women that have symptoms of bleeding are known as symptomatic carriers. So yes, they too can be bleeders.

@ 8:25 Women can actually have Hemophilia too. This video is seriously out dated. (they even spelled hemophilia incorrectly.) I know because my dad and both of my sons have severe hemophilia and I have moderate. I am a woman. =)
