This medication has been a life savor to me.... Before I started amitriptyline I suffered from severe headaches daily and horrible insomnia, anxiety, vertigo, nerve pains, other strange and unexplainable neurological exacerbations.... Numbness, sharp shooting pains down arms/legs/fingers/toes. When on this medication I get a full nights sleep, seldom have headaches anymore, and rarely have dizzy/vertigo moment. This stuff is dangerous. I was on a very small dose and it caused me to fall several times and it put me in the ER for chest pain due to heart problems.

@TheInbornMechanics It's sad your parents made you feel like that, parents aren't perfect and often make dumb mistakes. Please know you are a special and worthwhile person and God (or the universe if u prefer) has a special plan for you. Taking Amitriplne may improve your mood in the meantime but you need to tell yourself everyday that you are loved and accepted the way you are. Stay blessed.x

this med is strong even in my 50mg 15 minutes im fighting to stay awake.

guy amitriptyline use with paxel can be lethal as the paxel and relalated sri,s like prozac and zoloft and sach can raise raise the amitriptyline levels to taxic levels ,i just started using amitriptyline last week and my doc made sure my old meds were out of my body before restarting the amitriptyline last week , amitriptyline has been a life saver for me i took it from 85 to to 91 , then prozac and the hit the market and these older drugs were shelved nothing else has worked for me

i was on amitripylene for over a year and never got any "reactions". as with ANY medication or food, people get different reactions. it's written on the info sheet that comes with it.

@thorkyll I don't think there are any reactions with food unless the person has an UNHEALTHY reaction to it like an allergy. when it comes to medication the medication is causing the unwanted negative reaction. and putting psych drugs in the same realm as ANY medications I feel is wrong. You don't get numbness on one side of the body, hairloss, bruising, muscle pain, pounding heartbeats, feeling like you might pass out, etc, etc like you do with Amitriplyne.
