I think the addition of the can liguid is what makes the hummus taste "funny" with the addition of lemon. I know you're trying to make a lower calorie hummus, but I'd use water instead. The can liquid is full of salt, and is also pretty nasty since it's the goo the beans are stored in. Try it with the juice of one full lemon, 2 tsp of cumin, 2 tsp of dried cilantro, and 2 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes. If you don't eat a lot of fat othewise, using just olive oil would make it even better.

I asked Sandy about the lemon, and she said it made that type of hummus take funny. I guess because you are not adding so much olive oil.Although I must say you could not tell the difference. I was really surprised. But by all means if lemon it is that you want to add, try it. Everyones tastes bud are different. thank you for watching
