First day video review of Canon's SD780 is. Filmed in HD 1280 X 720 - relatively low light then compressed down to less than 7MB. No longer HD quality and so a pretty bad example of what this camera can do.

Nice little point and shoot, ultra compact, lightweight, go anywhere size, clear bright photos ... just a bit too thin to hold on to for my liking. Also, zoom and shutter button lay flat/flush so it's easy to zoom unknown and unwanted when you turn it around to take a self or group pic while holding it. 4 way Control / func set button is also a bit too flat for my liking and not as easy to click on as many of the other sd models. Great little camera for it's size but my larger sized hands find it too small flimsy feeling and awkward to want to take it anywhere at all. Taking it back and will likely buy a different model sd or the lumix ts1 for it's size, easy menu, zoom and shutter slider as well as the shock and waterproof durability factor. Canon found the way to master color balance and enhancement making everything pretty but I'll take functionality and the odd Photoshop touch over the pain this one is. Cramps my big monkey hands trying to push the flat little buttons.

Positive: The HD video quality is pretty good for it's size (although best filmed on a tripod or with steady hand so u don't get dizzy on playback)

Was told when I bought it that it records 15mins of video per GB of card memory but it only records 5 minutes per GB.

A new class 6 4GB card only gets 20 mins of HD video so get a minimum 16GB or 32GB card if you want a least an hour of HD video.

These video clips are so large that you'll likely want to convert them to a smaller size and save the originals to disk or a TeraGig storage box if you want to avoid overloading your computer.

My 2005-06 Dell PC isn't powerful enough to allow Zoom Browser to edit the files even with the update you need to do so. For some reason the camera comes with an outdated version 6.3 on the CD that doesn't let you do much with the videos other than play them until you install the update. Should be fine if you have a Mac or newer faster PC.
