  • @earthshine2k I agree with you, I was referencing the target line. Most people don't set up to their swing path, they set up to where they want to hit the ball too.

  • @spartanstackandtilt open or closed relative to what? the target line (body alignment), or the path? The target line is irrelevant to curvature. A ball slices because the clubface is open to the path. Likewise, it hooks because the clubface is closed to the path. So, no, you can't hit a fade w/ a closed face, and you can't hit a draw w/ an open face, if your point of reference is the path; which it should be. The body alignment / target line really doesn't have anything to do with it.

  • In complete contradiction with the 'The Golf Fix: Fixing Pull Hooks' video

    on the shoulder alignment..who's right??

  • other way steve

  • @spartanstackandtilt Yes! I couldn't agree with you more!

  • good advice on set up to avoid hook, but it isn't the whether the club face is square. You can hit a fade with a closed face and draw with an open face. If you set the ball too far back you are swing too much in to out putting right to left spin on the ball which give a right to left ball pattern. Club face determines initial launch, swing path determines spin. Just like if you put the ball too far forward you would start slicing it because you would start cutting across the ball.

  • Nothing to do with him turning his hands too much then, no?

  • Some great golfer once said that a large percentage of the problems in the golf swing are related to ball position and alignment.

  • Great vid.

  • Thanks to this helpful tip, I now realize ball placement is related to the postioning of the shoulders at impact.
