This is live? Oh my, what a tremendous musician.

How wonderful it is to hear the true Art of interpreting Chopin, albeit in this little masterpiece. It takes an artist like Michelangeli to reach into the very soul of such sublime music.

@radioplug14 ... as far as your paper is concerned: who came out to deliver the best performance? Chopin? Or did Friedman have a chance?

Why so much conflict? Music is after all a matter of taste, and one persons piano God is his, it might not be mine, but that does not make his enjoyment any less valid. The awesome thing about YouTube is...you don't have to pay to listen, and then discover you don't like an artist, you just move on to another, and keep doing so until you find the one. The Goldilocks Method!

I did a paper on performance practice of this particular piece. I researched the history of mazurkas and their roots as a dance. Judging from written accounts of the mazurka roots and how Chopin played this piece himself, the performance is not true to its origins. You all can hate my post, but it is screaming in the truth. Michalengeli has great tone, but stylistically, this is a very very weak mazurka.
