  • @TheMistereeSAKA : Thanks so much...and you can count on it! ;)

  • @SnappyJones13:

Actually, that's not true. Steve Cropper told Jimi to come back to Stax sometime, and Jimi did. However, the day that Jimi came back to Stax, Steve Cropper was not there. Nevertheless, Jimi plugged up and started doing his signature flashy guitar bit. The other studio musicians all laughed at him and walked right out of the session. So Jimi packed up his guitar and left, never to return. Stax had just blown their big chance at signing an eventual legend...

  • @Showmesoul:

Glad you enjoyed it! Actually, somewhere on bootleg, there exists a recording of Jimi Hendrix and Steve Cropper in the studio jamming circa 1964.

"Steve Cropper showed me a lot of things", Hendrix once recalled.

And Al Jackson, Jr. was the human metronome...RIP

  • How many groups could take a Hendrix song and make it their own? Booker T. & The MG's pulled it off. That takes nothing away from Jimi......it just shows how versatile and underrated he was as a songwriter. And, it shows how incredible the MG's were (and still are). I've listened to this track hundreds of times over the years, and it still amazes me..... thanks for posting!

  • tanks for post. some info would be nice! year, who wrote the music, musicians, etc.

  • @SnappyJones13: Want to talk about ripping someone off then ask Pete Townshend how Jimi ripped him off by smashing a guitar at Monterey. But that's beside the point. Look, I'm a hardcore Steve Cropper fan. In fact, I had a drink with him on Sunday night after a gig of his. I know the guy's entire career inside and out. If Hendrix wanted to work at Stax, he would have had to pay the same studio rates as Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett. That's not "ripping someone off". That's business. Got it?

  • @tomthefunky Do you normally throw around childish insults smart guy? I'm going by Jimi's words from the biography. Either the one by Cross or Lawrence, can't remember which one. Unless you were actually there how do you propose to know more than anybody else? At least you got "you're" right. Congratulations, you're a competent troll.

  • I've had this video in my favorites for quite a while now, and this is the first time I've heard it with headphones....Yes!
