Countries like Ghana are desperate to trade their way out of poverty. But EU regulations and cheap imports are stifling their industries. Ghana's markets are flooded with subsidised American maize. Farmers are being priced out of their own markets. While the EU is removing some quotas and tariffs, its list of stringent requirements makes it virtually impossible for Ghanaians to export their goods.

  • Ghana, why don't you call up China, and see if there's a market for your Bananas?

The EU is the wrong target...they enjoy seeing Africa get poorer and poorer

  • The EU don't want the African continent to progress and move forward. Wicked people! God is on our side. Mother Africa help from the wicked so called Developed countries.

  • but how could African countries trade with Asia, the west would punish the nation, ether by funding a rebel group and over throwing or other means (election fraud?). Take Nigeria for example in the 80's, the did not know their oil was going to south Africa, they nationliaed it and Thatcher put visa restrictions on Nigerians in the UK

  • WONDERFUL

  • @lastwhiteman27 Please, Shut the Fuck up shithead, you speak so much cunt!

  • Move towards china in the market not the EU :/

  • @lastwhiteman27 i wouldnt eat anything you had your hands on you fool! its people like you who make the world a terrible place. I just got home to Canada from a trip to Ghana. Their fresh fruits and veggies are way better than ours, and they are experts at producing wonderful delicious foods. You are a disgrace to the human race you effing clown!!!!!!

  • God definitely does exist!!! Africans, I feel, are over reliant on God. They want to sit around (I am not sugesting they are lazy) and expect God to perform a miracle to fix all their issues, instead taking active steps towards realising their goals. They do not lack ambition, but they just do not work hard enough towards achieving those ambitions. I hope that mentality changes soon.

  • It is a shame that, although Hitler was put in his place decades ago, we still get idiots on here expressing biased and unjustified views of the minority. I say to you the haters, if you really want to know where all the problems stemmed from, look no further than your own home (your great grand fathers and their wicked deeds of slavery). Africa is where they are today all because of the West, FOOL!!!!!!!

  • omg africa stop trying to sell crap to foreign countries! just ban imports and sell the stuff indigenously! Stop buying from these people who wont buy from you.

  • look at the date this was almost a decade ago ghana has progressed and is trading its even found oil and is trading that.
