all US plugin vehicles will use the same J-1772 240 volt standard. It's an SAE auto standard.
If you only drive 20-40 miles a day you can easily plug to a simple 120 volt outlet and charge with time to spare whjile you sleep. The USA has lots of excess electric off peak.
There are thousands of charging stations going in this year and next. It'd AMerican power for an American made TENN car.

Does anyone know if the charging plug be a standard for most electric vehicles or will each manufacturer(nissan,mitsubishi
, etc) have its own proprietary (inconveniant) plug configuration for 220v that doesnt fit with another EV?
In the U.S., level 2 charging (220/240 V) has been standardized. What we are waiting on is the same for Level 3, the 450-480 V fast charging system.
