Fixed as of 14/5/11. It was a problem on their end. The HD menus are still laggy and most of them are still in SD regardless. Oh, and they raised the monthly subscription from $12.95 to $19.99 per month.

Plugged into ethernet. Can communicate with TiVo servers, be pinged from my computer, use Pandora, and yet it still thinks there is "No Connection". Video on demand doesn't work. Search doesn't work.

TiVo, fix your software.

  • @FierceDeityLink1 - I'd be interested to see how it works out, be sure to post a video!

  • @2011blueman Hoping it works out better. Using the media center extender functionality on the Xbox 360 is really nice even with only a single QAM tuner in my HTPC. Don't really want to buy another TiVo + pay more monthly for multi-room streaming.

  • @FierceDeityLink1 - that's crazy, but now I see where you're coming from. Ceton isn't nearly as good, but it's free and that's what you're going for. I prefer quality and convenience over over saving a few dollars.

  • @2011blueman Yep, I just switch account holders every year to get the promo price.

  • @FierceDeityLink1 - you did read that you're on the promotional rate right now right?

  • @2011blueman Straight from the bill:

    HD DVR Service

    11/04 - 12/03

    9.95

    Primary Outlet With Bundle Promotional

    Pricing

    Free X 12 HD/DVR

    -9.95

Call and ask, you can probably get it for free.

  • @FierceDeityLink1 - not sure where you live, but here in the US the HD DVR is NOT free in the comcast triple play bundle. You get the box for free, but can't use the DVR functionality for free. Comcast charges $15.99 per month for DVR service in my area (all areas are different but none are free). Quote directly from comcast's website "DVR service requires an additional monthly DVR service fee".

  • @2011blueman That's nice. I'm getting rid of my 2TB Premiere when I get out of its contract as soon as I can and moving to a Ceton build. No subscription fees, and the tuner costs the same as a Premiere. I regret not doing it in the first place. Also, a HD DVR is included in my Comcast bundle (phone/internet/cable for $90/mo.). Also also, it's only $9.95 for an additional HD DVR, and Comcast/DirecTV/Dish are waiving the monthly fee in most cases ("free HD for life" etc.).

  • @FierceDeityLink1 But here is the problem I WANT DVR! The comcast DVRs are crap. For $4/mo more than what Comcast charges for their DVRs I have TiVo which is not crap. Yes, not all the menus are HD, but that is a minor gripe. TiVo is DEFINITELY worth the extra $4/mo when compared to Comcast's current offerings in my opinion.

  • @2011blueman I was only basing that statement on their press conference, not from personal experience. And no, TiVo won't update their menus to be all HD or utilize both cores of the CPU. Yeah, it's better than Comcast's current offerings but not worth $20/mo. that they're asking for now.
