@Matty11209 -- I see what you mean, but I feel it's a very dog-friendly park, considering it's not a dog park. Dog parks are for all dogs, all the time. A large city park like Prospect Park is for all the *people* in the area, some of whom are terrified of or allergic to dogs; plus I'm sure that with Brooklyn's population, there could easily be a problem with dog waste or threatening behavior while the dogs' owners aren't within easy reach.

There was a time when I was able to bring my dog to the main lake and let him go swimming there and run around the whole park off leash. Now you are confined to a glorified puddle and only before 9am. There is not even a dog run at Prospect Park. It has grown to be a very dog unfriendly park.

I love this park and I love these people! My dog and I love coming here on the weekends! My dog was not a swimmer until I pulled her into the water with me and she saw that it was safe! Now she loves it!
