Here's a Beatles song I'm doing for my YouTube friend from the Netherlands, Rob. Greetingzzz Rob.... Rob is always one of the first to write a nice comment whenever I post a new video to YouTube. I'm trying to carry an interesting bass part, while playing the chord melody on this classic Beatles Tune, Eight Days A Week.

  • Hi Jim, what type Martin are you playing in this vid? Its look similar to a Ebay offer about a Martin DCX 1KE Cutaway.

    Greetingzzz

    Rob

  • @rnrhc10 It's not a DCX 1KE. It's an electric classical guitar with nylon strings. I'll tell you the actual model number later (the guitar is way on the other side of the house and I don't want to walk way over there right now.

  • Jim -- Do you have any problems with the Martin's scale length? I believe it is 26.44.

I have smaller hands and that scale length seems scary! I currently play a short scale guitar.

  • @SeijouAi I'm so use to playing many, many different guitars, that I don't even notice the different scale length on any of them. No problems for me, but may be for someone who is concerned about smaller hands. Although I've noticed that even very small children get use to playing classical guitars with very wide necks - it's more about hand positioning than hand size.

  • Jim, That is a really nice arrangement and performance.

    Regards, Nick

  • @1moreguitarplayer ... thanks, nick, for checking out the video. I'm still having fun, as I know you are. Jim

  • @forbebe ...You're right - it's very easy to add that bass part and I think it does make it interesting. I'll be watching for your new arrangement! Jim

  • Really nice arrangement! Walking bass makes it very interesting! Thanks for posting! cheers, BB

  • @MajorSeven59 Thanks Frank. It's a fun one to play....just figured it out a few days ago.

  • Great Job!

Hear some elements of Chet and Tommy in there.

    Nice instrumental arrangement.
