Marquette County leaders claim Rio Tinto's proposed Eagle Mine would be a boost to the local economy. In all their years of support for the project, they never required the company to give the local area a decent amount in taxes. They're leaving it up to the corrupt DNRE and Rio Tinto to decide.
The tribe needs to address the laws of the land prior to the European invasion and keep on that one point the whole way. Those treaties are honorable and need to be fought in the U.S. Supreme Court.

If Rio Tinto has all of this money, why do they not move their fences so that the Ojibwa people can worship there? The police came and took a woman off her rock while she was praying. This, after the President/Board from Rio Tinto promised that they would be able to continue to worship there. This is a sin against God, against the land and are taking our riches to grow their company. They are bullies, and it is being allowed. How can they sleep at night? They need to move their fences.

After K.I Sawyer left Marquette became a model city recognized as one of the "Top Ten Best Small Communities" in the entire country to live in. These short cited nut jobs who are interested in NOTHING more than lining their own pockets with revenue from one of the worst polluters in the world. Wake up and smell the coffee people you will leave your children and grandchildren with nothing but a lifetime of shame!!!
