The ABCs of Death starring Dallas Malloy, Peter Pedrero, Fraser Corbett and
Kyra Zagorsky is reviewed by Ben Mankiewicz (host of Turner Classic Movies), Matt Atchity (Editor-in-chief Rottentomatoes.com), and Alonso Duralde (TheWrap.com and Linoleum Knife podcast).

Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABC's OF DEATH is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world's leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children's educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters; each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Provocative, shocking, funny and ultimately confrontational, THE ABC's OF DEATH is the definitive vision of modern horror diversity. (c) Magnolia

I feel like that is a good example why civilization as a whole is failing. You may be right, but I find a ridiculous amount of absurdity in a film "failing" because it was not what a viewer wanted. I remember the trailer, and anyone who expected an examination of death as a concept to begin with is an asshole; anyone still expecting it after the marketing and clear emphasis on 26 films (scenes, really) of directors just having at it ('it' being 'Fuck shit who cares I had fun'), is just a no one.

he originally gives it a 3 because theres 3 pieces he likes , yet he says its watchable because there only 5 mins long (so your never there thinking 'fuck theres alot of letters left'!) this movie looked like a good novelty one off film to me ,an a-z of cool death sequences in a house of horrors style, its really fucking shit

The genre is quite transgressive, subversive and intelligent but it probably needs to creat more films with interesting stories and characters rather than it be scene decoration for the violence and psychosis that this film revel in.

if the point is that they have no point, ala Funny Games. The ABCs of Death probably failed because it was more about killing and murder than actually examining how we as a civilisation see and deal with death in a number of way, murder, accidents, suicide etc rather than a marathon of shorts more about how they die as opposed to why. This is why i believe when the rumored Crossed film comes out, it'll be panned by critics but appreciated by horror fans especially adherents to NWE.
