  • glad you like it. I had a lot of fun making it. It was one of my 2D animation projects for my Diploma of Multimedia

  • Join the radical left movement!

  • I find comments like this to be troubling. I have known David for about five years now and have known him to be one of the most sincere people I have ever met. He is a dedicated activist and father. I have enjoyed not only his music, but listening to his take on the world.

  • |'d say Rovics is the best genuine protest folk singer since bob dylan or even pete seeger

  • @LibSoc68 what radical left movement?

all I see is a bunch of sectarianism and factionalism with no unity, dialogue, or debate - let alone mass rallies or movement building. we're all focused on theory & puritanism and not on actually changing anything. I'm with you comrade but there is no radical left movement to join at this point...

the best we can organize for at the moment is sparking class consciousness so workers begin to unionize again. that's not even radical, but it's a start.

  • yay me! disliker number 2

  • @ProNorden

Cromwell was a revolutionary in his day - the English Capitalist Revolution.

What is "progressive" and "conservative" is relative to the age. There was a time when capitalism, feudalism and even slavery were relatively progressive.

  • Is there ever was a musician to whom Tom Lehrer's son "The Folk Resistance Army" applied 100%, it's David Rovics.

    Powerful lyrics, not much else.

  • This great song is not in The David Rovics Songbook. I figured out some chords (correct I think) and thought someone else might be interested:

    Capo 4th fret

    Verse: C/ FCG/ C/ FCG/ FCG/ FCG/ C/ FCG

    Chorus: CG/ Am FG/ FCG/ C F(G)C

  • @LibSoc68 .... Restoring the natural Commons might not be a particularly "left movement".

It was strongly advanced by Cromwell. And it was strongly favored by the Puritan Founders of New England.

Not to the exclusion of private property and a reasonably free economy. But those profoundly Conservative, 'Religious Right' folks believed that it was important for a healthy society to hold some considerable land in common for everyone's use if they needed it. Not everything subject to 'outbidding'.
