Ramzan the Red has just caught a magnificent pelican. He names him Kodu, Little Man. The pelican is the most precious bird. He brings honor and prosperity to the family that owns him. Ramzan the Red says that his family was the first to settle by this lake but another family has always claimed that it was here long before: the family of Mohammad the Yellow. The renown enjoyed by Ramzans pelican has immediately revived the longstanding jalousies between the two families. Mohammad the Yellow vows that he too will capture a pelican.
