Via The Guardian: "With a photo that was engineered to ignite a storm of online heat and noise, Time magazine's cover depicts a 26-year-old-mother breastfeeding her three-year-old son, who stands on a chair. The story is meant to explore the growing trend of "attachment parenting", preached primarily by Dr Bill Sears, co-author of the Baby Book, which encourages mothers to breastfeed into toddlerhood, co-sleep, and "wear" their babies in an effort to limit their time away from their child. But few people read beyond the cover language (Are You Mom Enough?) on Thursday, when the photo was posted online...".* Ana Kasparian and Huffington Post Science Correspondent Cara Santa Maria break it down on The Young Turks.

Just ignorant is what these women are. it is our right to BF our kids in public or not. Its because of women like this that we got all these young girls running around having babies and popping bottles in there newbies mouth instead of BF, and not giving their kids the best start in life. I think they are too ashamed of BF. I BF my kids and hell no I'm not ashamed of it. you don't like it don't LOOK.

Frankly, nursing a toddler is no big deal. It's more common than people think. The problem is our culture. Unfortunately this mother is thinking about making a statement, not what's best for her kid. Our culture is cruel and fairly nasty.

Certainly it was a matter of money chasing that led to the almost extinction of mothers who breastfeed. Breastfeeding is the NATURAL way that mothers feed their young. Humans are off-track because we've resorted to being objects of sexual pleasures. Then too, those of us who would love to breastfeed arr forced into the workforce in order to survive, which leaves "baby" happily nursing a piece of lifeless plastic!!

In regards to the picture, this child needs a sipper cup like...TWO YEARS AGO

And NO, they are not portraying AP negatively. The headline reads "Are You Mom Enough?" They're challenging women who don't breastfeed and saying this is what good moms do- do you?

Attachment parenting is misogynistic and anti-feminist. It reduces women to incubators and milk trucks who need to spend their lives washing cloth diapers. It does nothing but reinforce traditional gender roles. Ana has got the definition of AP completely wrong btw.

Did they mention anything about breast feeding in public? To me it seemed like they only cared about the age. Correct me if I'm wrong.
