Oh Lord, honey!
I am a walking injury! I've been sidelined by shinsplints (painful!), tennis elbow, rotator cuff problems, etc. I was hit by a car on my bike over a year ago (eek) and that really set me back, but then I started hiking (and was stopped dead by the shin splints) Drives me crazy. But, you know what? I think we wore our bodies out with so much weight and we weren't as active then, so maybe this is normal and it comes with the territory? Ugh. Price of admission, I guess...

i just have to tell you,, your eyes are so beautiful.. i hope yor feel better soon.

I wonder if having the sudden weight loss has had something to due with it? Maybe the body isn't able to adjust so quickly to the rapid weight loss, therefore leaving you prone to injuries. Although it has been three years. Hmm, I wonder, had you lost the weight the "natural" way, would you still experience the same problems? I think you are absolutely wonderful and so inspiring! I love watching your videos! :-)

*continued* I am told that it is possible that I will not regain all of my use. It will be a year in 02/2010. My recovery time for the actual surgery was about 2-3 weeks. The way it affects me the most is that I dont trust myself to run because of that knee going out on me. BTW..I was at a stall at 190 pounds. I started going to Zumba. You should check it out! I love it and BONUS...it burns 600-1000 calories an hour. Nothing wrong with that! Much love

I had to be very proactive. My PCP told me it was diabetic neuropothy to which I replied BS and went to a neurologist. My spine was squished to a third of its original size. The surgery was very successful but I do have some residual stuff going on. My knees buckle occasionally and I have "hot spots." They are spots where my skin seems to be on fire. It feels like the burn you get during cardio and it moves around to different places, mostly my left leg. *continued*...

i also feel like i was healthier while obese since i didn't have back problems and stuff. i feel held back as well. post op life is nothing like i thought it'd be.

i have horrible back problems as most people know by watching my videos. it started 6 months post op... had a MRI and i have disc degenerative disease, spinal stenosis, and disc bulging. no injuries... just popped up. i deal with it daily now with meds after i found a wonderful neurologist and pain mgmt doctor. i'm surprised at all the WLSers coming out of the woodwork with back problems suddenly.

I think what others have said is prob true...you're much more active. In re: the herniated disc... I also agree with you, I think that for those of us who were very overweight we probably did alot of damage that maybe shows up now that we are more active. In re: the cramping even preop if I hadn't been drinking my milk I'd get leg cramps so I'd check on your calcium levels...but other electrolyte imbalances could be impacting this too. Be well!
I had RNY on 10/15/2008. About December I started to exercise whan all of the sudden (overnight) I started losing feeling in my hands and feet which got progressively worse. Come to find out I had herniated discs in my neck. I have since had surgery. I have a theory about why it happened. I wonder if the fat held everything in place and now that the fat is gone, my body has lost its support system. I know it sounds odd but it seems possible..dont you think?

How is your vitamin D level? Anemia? Vitamins?
I currently have random muscle twitching and tingles... who knows why.
Bone fractures are common too - post op... like foot bones, hand bones....

I have not had blood work done in about 10 - 11 months but my levels were ok.. D was a little on the low side and my iron was also low. Sadly, I have been an IDIOT in the last 10 months and have been very sporadic in taking all my vitamins.. I know.. bad bad.
