The real story of the powerful march celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy was ignored by the mainstream media in favour of misleading and charged accounts of a confrontation of Australia's racist opposition leader Tony Abbott and PM Julia Gillard by protesters later in the day. Abbott had provoked the incident by dismissing the historic Tent Embassy as irrelevant and adding that it should be closed down. About 1500 people joined the march on Parliament House and kicked off a 3-day gathering at the Tent Embassy, which swelled into a colourful and well-organised tent village.

  • These racists are proving that the Tent Embassy is as relevant and significant as it was 40 years ago. The racists are also demonstrating that they are stupid.

  • No matter how much white paint the boongs rub on them they will never be equal to white people. Coons= scum of the earth

  • The Australians reading these comments will recognise in the comments below the typical Australian racist - white, uneducated and insecure - and ignore them. To those non-Australians: despite the best efforts of these people and their kind, Indigenous culture is not dead; it is sophisticated, deep & relevant. Indigenous Australians are denied many basic human rights and 'equal opportunity' does not apply if you are a poor black minority in Australia. Ignore the racists, they have a lot to learn.

  • The only land they need is liquorland

  • A recent protest at Ayers Rock. The local aboriginals don`t like us climbing the rock because it`s apparently a sacred sitet that is owned by aboriginal people. What a crock of shit I say.

One of my favourite lines comes out of the "Crocodile Dundee" movies. The rock was here before us, it`ll be here long after we die. No one owns the rock. So I say climb the rock if you want, enjoy it, take in the beautiful sights and smile. It`s there for all australians black, white and everything in between

  • Stop winging. You have enough land rights. Get your fingers out and start learning to live amongst everyone else.

  • Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorland Whata we want liquorlandWhata we want liquorland

  • "we got our paint, witchedy grubs and our crappy chairs so we no move!"

  • @walenski2404 Ogedi Boogdei blah blah crap. The notion of a God is ridiculous. Keep God out of this, this is not a religion page.

  • Obedience to GOD is a blessing. Disobedience is a curse. Quite simple ,really. Read Dueteronomy in the bible for a more detailed description of the curses about to befall the Anglo-saxon nations. "the stranger within thee" apllies to the heathen peoples(ie. aborigines in australias case) "They shall be the head and you shalt be the tail". GOD is using the "worst of the heathen" to correct a sinful and wicked nation.

  • @MrDEEPEARTH / So you think God is going to help them take over the country?
