I know it's only fictional, but that teacher makes me so angry - they're supposed to be sensitive to a child's home life, and react to the signs: after all, a teacher has a position of care.

My mum had a mental breakdown and was first diagnosed with bipolar when I was Dol's age, and being her only child, don't think I could've coped without support from adults..

I must say...it's obvious the old woman who lives below them knew what was going onfor years. Why didn't she call social services? Yeah, splitting a family up would be awful and some of the children's homes sound awful but Marigold needed help.
