Sorry folks, just another talking head video. But I wanted for a long time to put this up as a kind of part 2 of the supermarket video. I realize this video is very long, but I'm amazed at how much I still forgot to mention. Cucumber Pepsi! Doh! I totally forgot as well, now you can pay for online transactions at the conbinni as well. So if you don't have a credit card you can buy transfer cash into online credit at a conbini. I add money to my skype account via the conbini sometimes. Very cool. Also interesting are other small differences in where and when things are sold. Generally alcohol is on sale 24 hours a day 7 days a week, unlike many parts of my home country. Also notable, condoms are put in the aisle next to other personal hygenie goods, where in the US they are generally kept behind the counter by the staff. The conbini is really a microcosom of Japan in many ways. It certainly, for me at least, is interesting to compare to the US and notice the cultural differences.

If you are interested in buying things in Japan from abroad try out the site
http://Rinkya.com
Because I am not going to send it to you!!! :p

Next video will be sooner and more exciting... I promise!

Good Article about Conbini's from a Magazine I used to write for.

  • I think a person could survive perfectly well eating exclusively from combinis in Japan.........Although if you exclusively ate from American convenience stores you would probably only live a few months at best before you keeled over.

  • I hope they can keep Wal-Mart out of Japan

  • I live in New Zealand, and we've got one on every street. But nowhere near the amount of variety.. I've got about 10 within 1-5 minutes walk.

  • I haven't seen a Lawson's (here in America) since the 70s. I didn't know they were still around.

  • Was wondering what kind of slushie/icee flavors are popular all around japan?! I like alot different asian import drinks like Yeo's green tea and such! Nice vids btw. :)

  • 20 People Need To Drink More Coca-Cola Fibre Plus.

  • Oho,Lawson is my favourite!Or Daily Yamazaki, cause it has all sorts of crazy food!I bought a thing at Lawson,I thought it was a daifuku buuut...It was just pure anko covered in a strange white topping...I ate the whole thing though...

  • Do they have Universe and Homac in Tokyo and if not what is their version of them? We had them when I lived in northern Japan and next year I'm moving to Tokyo so I'm wondering.

  • When i was in Tokyo i lived in Gotanda so i always went to PORoROCO conbini to get what i needed. I always bought Suntorys Dakara, love the taste of that one.

  • Ahhh i remember living in Japan on a American air force base :), there was an 7-11 right outside the main gate. I'd always walk there and get lunch, pre order a ps1 game, or buy Magic the gathering cards in japanese xD
