  • My absolute favourite track of all time and I love the video. Sets the song off perefctly.

  • I didn't appreciate this album back in the day or realise how enduring some of their music was especially tracks like this that are so simple beautiful and timeless, 'of all the things were made of' and this track are some of my most cherished music that is so special to me!

  • @thelandingsmusic calm down and dont be so hostile, i tell you what you need, a good shag from my sister

  • @moeran1944 - You have impeccable taste ;-)

  • @Fangita66 I agree - OMD were so much more than just a 'pop group'. They explored sound within music. And 'The Beginning and the End' has counterpoint and a beautiful harmony. McCluskey and Humphreys wrote some good pop-type songs which were hits, but they also wrote and produced some serious music which is still great after 30 years. Your choice - Stanlow, Statues, Romance etc is my choice too!

  • @swanstep i just went and had a listin to unison by bjork and i just cant see a connection at all other than they are both music.and no offence but omds 1st 4 albums are more edgy and developed than any hyped up bandwagon jumping unoriginel bjork (or dreary sugarcubes) songs that ive heard.

  • Beautiful song that now reminds me a lot of Bjork's Unison (the final track on Verspertine). I think Bjork probably has the edge - her song's more developed and her voice is on another level - but OMDs track is still v. fine, and it's interesting that they had some of the ideas Bjork would rediscover 20 years later.

  • How did this band get a reputation of being just a pop group? Not that there is anythng wrong with pop, but OMD were so much more....Stanlow, Statues, Romance of the Telescope, Of all the things...Wonderful

  • @weerab2 That really moved me........
