Fly fishing is so much better than normal fishing.

@hangbulavard There's hundreds of places near and around Fresno for fly fishing. Fresno, ca is right in between the Kings and San Joaquin rivers. Numerous lakes and hundreds, if not, thousands of miles worth of creeks and streams. You are right next to one of the greatest national forests on the planet. People literally travel from all over the world just to go to Yosemite and the surrounding areas. Some of my favorite creeks are Lewis, Dinkey, and Big Creek.

@mnflyfishing yea thats true that sierra/sequoia is a great place to fish and such but the best times are during the winter... but that's just from my point of view..and it's kind of hard to go up there with out snow tires

@TheMattaboy John is a great shop owner. So head on down and see if has some time to show you. He's usually busy tying flies and helping people, but you never know. Or at least he can point you in the right direction for materials and some instruction. Tight lines!

@hangbulavard Fresno, CA? I grew up in the Fairfield, Vacaville area. Been to Fresno many times passing thru to the natl forest, but never fished in the city. But I do remember seeing park ponds and neighborhood ponds. If there not bone dry, should be fish in them. Otherwise talk to the local bait store. Your also within an hours drive of the Sierra/Sequoia Forest and some great fishing..your very lucky. Tight lines!

He's a great fisherman and fly tier, but his cast could use a lot of work.

I kid around with John (the guy casting) a lot about his casting in this video. He's normally a very good caster, but when the tapes rolling, it's much different. This was all filmed in one day, lots of pressure to catch a fish while the film is rolling :). You feel like you need to be perfect, instead of being just being relaxed and natural.
