Rangers made a prefect start to their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 demolition of Sturm Graz. Michael Mols opened the scoring in the ninth minute tapping in after good play from Ronald de Boer. Allan Johnston then crossed for de Boer to slide the ball in while Jorg Albertz added a third when he thundered a shot into the net. In the second half, Albertz missed an early penalty but there were further goals from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Billy Dodds.

  • My favourite teams are Manchester United and Sturm Graz, but I also like Glasgow Rangers a lot. You could say that I am a Scotland fan, though I live in Austria. It was a hard night even Sturm Graz lost weeks after this against Monaco 0:5 as well but still managed to win this group and it was the best any Austrian club achieved and I am always proud looking back at those days. Thanks for uploading. Would love to visit the Ibrox park some time.

  • forgot that albertz missed a pen!!! billy dodds goal was a beauty and the commentator at the end "the best thing for the austrians all night, the final whistle" lol

    what a team btw!!

  • i'm wondering wheter any other team managed to win a cl-group after losing 2 games with the score of 0:5 :)

  • The problem with rangers that season in the league was that they bought too many players. Also,o neill came too celtic and it was the first challenge advocaat had.If he had bought three players that would have been enough. As for Konterman, least said the better!

  • Fantastic nights!!! Loved going to european games knowing if we play well we could beat any team, seems a million miles away now though watching the gers now, Broadfoot,Ortiz,Edu,Healy, those standard players wouldn`t have got into reserve team back then, 3 in a row fantastic achievement, but getting knocked out of europe of malmo and maribor is not good enough, the revenue our club makes from season tickets, shirt sales etc should be enough to put a team out that can beat these teams easily

  • Good old days

  • @bigderekkeene 7.57 world class.

  • Dario G - Carnaval de Paris! ^^

  • That year (99-2000) Franz Beckenbauer said Rangers at home could not be beaten and going to play against Rangers at Ibrox was one of the hardest games in Europe. The incredible team and manager we had helped a great deal, but you cant give enough credit to the fans, they where fucking amazing!

  • @CHAMPIONES09 Im a Rangers fan and i fuckin despise Man Utd. The Celtic FC of England. Verminous republican trash follow that classless outfit

  • Claudio Reyna, what a player that wee guy was for Rangers. Never disposessed, never gave the ball away, always found his man with well weighted balls into feet and always looking to recieve a pass. Fantastic wee player, an often unsung hero in that team.

  • I have Paul Gascoigne's autograph somewhere in my parents house.
