"Keep A Knockin'" is a song written years before Little Richard recorded his own iconic version. The song originated from the 1920's and was covered by many artists even before Richard such as Louie Jordan.

But once Little Richard recorded his version in 1957 he changed it forever! Little Richard put his signature boogie woogie, rock and roll/R&B flavor into the song and it has influenced countless musicians after him to record their own renditions. The opening drum intro influenced Led Zeppelin's drummer John Bonham in the intro to their song "Rock and Roll" from 1971. Led Zeppelin knew the roots of Rock and Roll music, so they decided to pay homage to Little.

Richard might not have gotten a lot of, or enough, credit back when he was recording his classic hits, but at least his music was able to live on for countless generations that have come, and will continue to come after him!

One of my favorite quotes from Little Richard is:
"Elvis may be the King of Rock and Roll, but I am Queen!"
Who COULDN'T LOVE Little Richard!?!?! God bless you Richard!

  • All the heavy metal vocalists sing like him, in other words, at a full volume!

  • @willpn100 That's SO true. Great point there. It's true - Little's influence extends through all types of music genres. He didn't just influence rock music and rhythm & blues. He influenced any music that's "heavier" like metal, punk. He was SO ahead of his time. He also influenced all the glam rock in 1970s. I wish Little Richard would do ONE more US tour before he leaves us for good. I'd love to see him

  • i never said elvis was racist. i said he stole most of his songs from black people duh u get ur facts straight. U childish ignorant fool. Why u even care that ive voiced my opinon what u need to do is get a life and fuck off

  • @Tashiebobo Your facts are false. Any black artist that was around back when Elvis was around would COMPLETELY disagree with your stupid ass. Elvis HELPED bring back those songs that were NOT getting any airplay on mainstream radio because most of America was racist then. Most people don't realize that Elvis brought their songs back into the discussion again. Parents hated Elvis because he acted too "black". Elvis opened a lot of doors so you should have a little more respect you lowlife cunt

  • @robinsaaan There's no way in hell you like Elvis more than me. That's not possible. I'm an Elvis fanatic...I'm a rock and roll music fanatic too. And everyone who TRULY knows rock and roll music knows that Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown and Buddy Holly were the pioneers of everything rock and roll. They helped created the greatest music that's ever been created in this world. It wasn't just 1 of them, they all did it together

  • Louis Jordan A Fait Une Version Dans Les L'année 30's

  • Just makes me want to fucking kick something! Genius!!!

  • Min 1:00 AMEN.

  • Happy 79th Birthday Little Richard !

  • Real badass rock n roll! I love the energy in this song.

  • This song was origionally done in 1938 by Louis Jordan and the Tympany 5 in a style called "Jump Blues". Richard recorded it leaving out that verse that says "I can tell you been drinkin' gin" because he was maketing it to a teenaged market.

  • fucking great song ..... 0:11 lol

  • Sister: Why cant they come in?

    Me: Hes getting dressed. Duh.

  • The King and The Queen of Rock and Roll

  • @willpn100 Little Richard has made MANY statements on how all these artists have basically stolen from him and he never gets the credit he deserves. From most artists, that would just be someone having a big head, but from Little Richard, he's telling the god's honest truth.

  • I like Elvis more than Princeboy99.

  • he was an inspiration to sooooo many, where do you think the beatles get their screams from in songs.

  • I love this guys vocals. I'll admit, I got it from Mafia. Love Mafia because I love the older decades especially the 20's-50's, what better than a video game that takes you back to that time period. His vocals caught me because their so fierce, reminds me of Jim Morrison and metal vocals. The music is catchy, classy, and heavy at the same time. Dont need growling vocals and a breakdown in every song to be heavy, his vocal style is original, and great. All music stems from it's predecessors.

  • rock and roll is definately an american invention

  • About a decade ago he came to a town near me and I didn't get there. His band played WAAAY overtime and the announcer finally had to tell him the show had to close so folks could go home. Is there an entertainer any harder working than that?! As long as there's rock, the best of the early days will be remembered.

  • @sunrecords56 No, you´ve made a mistake. It was the famous DJAlan Freed and later Bill Haley who brought rock and roll to mainstrain. The rest is history!

  • @Gyphia VERY well said! I hate when people make stupid bullshit assumptions about music when in reality they really don't know a damn thing about music

  • @Princeboy99 Fact is Fact, Elvis Presley opened the doors to mainstream America to music normal AM radio stations would notPlay. the rest is history

  • A damn good song

  • Has anyone noticed that John Bonham of Led Zeppelin stole the drum intro of this for "Rock And Roll"?

  • was he bisexual?

  • @willpn100 the Funny part this mn had this voice all others that try to sin like him have to scream, becouse they don't have the born voice.

ba He had to take drugs and waste that epic voice

  • @Princeboy99 I understand but I just felt the criteria cannot count out the fact that by the time Elvis Presley got in the rock'n'roll scene alot of kids weren't really dancing like those in the Bill Haley era and folks from there. There's a lot of factors to draw in, but I understand what you're getting at.
