Yes. I know. Thank you. I have been learning both Mandarin and Cantonese on my own. I do not actually have a teacher, but I have been learning by way of courses. I am nowhere near fluent, but I am trying.

difference between mandarin and cantonese spelling to latin.
same for kung fu which is more like cantonese but in mandarin it would be spelled as gong fu

It is refreshing to find yet another individual on this forum, who can exchage ideas with equanamity and not hositlity. There is unfortunately, a great deal of that on this particular forum, but I learn much here as well.

I was merely noting the difference between the sword, dadao and the Kwan dao a sort of polearm. I also noted the spelling you used, guan dao. I have never heard it referred to using the g. I have always noted it being spelled with a K.

It is actually a Kwan Dao, named by and for, the famous Chinese warrior, General Kwan, who wielded this tool with legendary skill.
