EA didn't always suck. Back when they had to really compete, they made some fine games, and the NHL series was among them. Real teams, real players.

Here, I take my Red Wings (with me as the LW) into an exhibition game and play like I always do: Like a damn thug.

This was my first hockey game, I thought this was so awesome back then. It's amazing how much it's improved incrementally looking at NHL 12 today.

The best of the NHL games IMO, great gameplay and I used to love poring over the stats. I'd love for EA to give it a graphical polish and put it up on Xbox Live Arcade. They won't though, because it would take away sales from the (in many ways, inferior) games they peddle every year. Might have to see if I can emulate this.
