Leopard installed on a MSI Wind... Great netbook, running leopard just awesome, with minor issues, being built-in WLAN a real killer...

Not Working:

Audio Inputs/Outputs and Internal Mic (a problem with alc888 running on ICH7 I/O, we're trying to resolve this problem via codec dumps and other stuff)
WLAN (Realtek 8187SE) - Drivers Soon from Realtek

Well, fortunately (for me) I have an external audio interface (FastTrack USB) and USB Wireless Dongle (Edimax 7318USg) which I use along with my pringles cantenna for wardriving purposes, so this hackbook is perfect for me, I love it!

But, you can also obtain a cheap usb audio interface from ebay ($5) and a new WLAN card like Dell 1490 ($15), problem solved...

Enjoy your sub $500 Hackbook Wind... Blows the "AIR" away! (Pricewise) Lol.... Or should we call it: Hackbook Mini?

Kudos to Paul Thurrot for being the first insane guy to install Leopard on the MSI Wind (Advent in his case)

  • i didnt know mac had a good name anyways

why shouldent we beable to run expensive software on inexpensive notebook

after all its macintosh that are forcing people to resort to use hackintosh's because there hardware is so dam expensive, it just goes to show that you dont need an expensive computer to run reletavly weak software i mean weak its not that resorce heavy that it cant be run on much cheaper machines, mac should listen more to the consumer than just churn out pretty products

  • actually there is an os x driver for the wifi card floating around.

  • @shanecbryson also, let's not forget, that with our leftover money we can buy the new computer with the new hardware 2 years later.

  • @shanecbryson that's why you build your own computer using your own parts, and also tell me why my iPod touch 4g hasn't lasted me a year and my HTC hero has mrs. Apple jack@ss. Your all stupid triple boot an effin custom built pc.

  • My webcam on my msi dont work :(( any ideas or drivers :D

  • @puggster There is a reason why Mac's are so expensive. Their hardware will last you about 5 years longer than a normal PC from any major competitor. Where these netbooks are cool, they probably won't last long. Not because OSX is killing them, because they will probably run a little with OSX on them, but because they use pretty terrible and cheap hardware and housings. Apple uses the best of the best and the best housings for their products on the market.

  • @RatSimBR but it has a mic

  • @puggster Windows costs more than OSX.

  • This is kool!!! I wish I could do it on my HP mini 210 this netbook even has multi-touch pad like MacBook pro but it is not fully compatible. I do like win 7 but OSX would be more kool to have. I just wonder if the performance is better on OSX than win 7.

  • A bootloader like Chameleon will eventually be needed because it offers virtual EFI which OS X needs. You can use NetBookCD on a CD to boot and install OS X but the machine will not boot into OS X on its own. I am afraid you will have to install a bootloader.
