  • I'm not sold on the color correction these places offer. I feel like it could be easily done, better, in FCP for no charge. How do you feel about this? Which was a better transfer as far as clarity and detail?

  • You just don't have the range for correction they have. That footage was shot with no 85 filter on the camera. He was able to correct for that in the gains and the blacks separately without effecting each other. You might be able to do it but it wont look as good. I liked the second transfer better it was much warmer overall. And it was sharper.

  • Did Spectra do both transfers?

I'm looking at doing a re-transfer of my Pro8 packgae that I shot this summer. Maybe they can get some better colors out of it.

  • Yes they did. I think Spectra does a better job of preping for transfer. They didn't lose so much of the head and tail of the roll during processing as Pro8 did.

  • The left one seems to have a little "white balance" added to the transfer while the one at the right looks a little more neutral. Means it has that neutral "direct from the stock" look. But it is good that you have both versions. Very interesting compare :)

  • I like the fist transfer . The Greys are balance better and the colors are more overexposed

  • The second transfer looks good, a little warm but nicer. How much did the transfer cost, and what was the resolution. Does Premiere pro CS3 have a good color mixer or a good sharpening tool

  • neat side by side... the colors are very different... we must shoot more and for no good reason!!!!
