Favourite song ever! So many versions to choose from, this is one of the very best!

@Alagnapassion Sorry, I forgot the refrain:
and The Fame peddles it;
to the good life (?);
my dear, let's go to the Chacona;
I hope you can enjoy it better now that you know what it says : )

@Alagnapassion a black [male] and a gypsy [female], singing the "dina dana" and the black [male] the "dina dona". [refrain] Thirty Sundays came in with twenty Mondays on their backs, and carrying these baskets, a donkey kicking. Juana with [no idea] the dry [female underwear] came out, (???!) and more than forty whores, fleeing from Barcelona. [refrain] NOTE: Remember, this song was composed in the 17th Century. I'm a native speaker but it contains several archaisms.

@Alagnapassion The Raza (lit: race, as in biology. A name?) and the forgery came out wholly covered in rust, and a matachin [was] dancing the Oñate and the Viaraza. [popular dances?] Between the Raza and the forgery there was such a [big] quarrel, that it was necessary for The Cid, to dance a Chacona. [refrain] A shipment of Aloe sailed with all its vermins, then, selling porridge, a crane came out [standing] on a leg. A faithless African,

@Alagnapassion Galen the medic came out, with [female footwear] and corals, and overloaded with (small) drums, the meek Diego Moreno. Vireno the scammer went after the glutton, and Cazalla's lover with a girl from Arjona. [refrain] Ganasca and Cisneros came out, with their beards scorched, and slapping one another, Anajarte and Oliberos. With a [no idea], Esculapio the doctor came out and the mother of love, ready the Law of Bayona [an old punishment method] [refrain]

@Alagnapassion First of all, I'm terribly sorry for the late response. I had some personal issues :/ Now here's the thing: "A chacona party, was thrown in the month of the roses, thousands of things happened; [refrain] When Almadán got married, a wild party was thrown, Anao's daughters danced; with Milán's grandsons. One of Don Beltrán's in-laws (one?); and Orfeo's sister in law; started a guineo, and an amazon finished it. [refrain]

@Tanathos474 This would not surprise me. Other famous music in Europe (the Follia, for example, may be influenced by the sarabanda from Central America) was influenced by the New World. We usually think of the New World being influenced by Europe exclusively, but even hundreds of years ago the New World exported its culture.

Exquisito!

@carlmalmberg I disagree with you. It is true that this piece has some similarities with the argentine chacarera, but "Chaco" is a quichua (the languagge Incaic tribes spoke) word wich means "large flat land". Some other sources tell that the chacona was in fact born in Mexico.
Heard this in Borgias yesterday. Amazing song.

@Alagnapassion I'm working on it. Spanish is my mother tongue, but this is harder than it looks because many of these words aren't used anymore, or changed their meaning.
Meanwhile, i can tell you what it is about. It talks about strange things that happened in a party: Two guys fighting, there was a crane, a faithless African... and more than 40 whores fleeing from Barcelona :D
There even was such a big quarrel that Spain's national hero (El Cid) had to intervene : )
