Can you use these for metal, e.g., shape a scraper for scratching a profile, without spoiling them for wood? Are these "for life" tools, or do you expect to wear out the teeth? Is there such a thing as rasp sharpening? Thanks for the helpful videos.

@ef2b I must have missed this comment. I wouldn't use these on metal. However, Auriou makes a full line of tools for working stone. As far as their longevity, they will wear out eventually. The quality of these particular rasps mean you will not wear them out as quickly. As far as sharpening, it is possible to freshen up the teeth with an acid bath. I don't know the specifics and would be happy to get you more information. I do know it isn't something you would do on a regular basis.
