I love Greenaway. Kraklite is his most humane creation. I remember reading that both of Greenaway's parents died from stomach cancer. Perhaps this is why Belly of an Architect is so moving.

the symbolism could be dated! magnificent, spot on, but altogether unintended observation. love it!

some of the acting by the supporting cast is a little crummy, but Dennehy is magnificent, and the film is beautiful to look at.
the symbolism could be dated for hours on end ;-)

This movie contains an immense minimalistic beauty musically and poetic cinematography having no equal match. I truly thank Peter Greenaway for giving me such a dream material...

I saw this movie many years ago. The beauty of it! The music! Also, strangely - how good Brian Dennehy is. He IS this character.

If not the best film I've ever seen then probably the most beautiful.
As for the music, to borrow a line from Amadeus; "Displace one note and there would be diminishment".
At around 0:40 a shot starts that pans along all the principal characters. If you've seen the film you'll understand there's some serious acting going on there without a word being spoken.
