Here is my own take on the Latin translations (please don't whine about it---it's more of a poetic interpretation than a translation):

O Fortune,
mercurial as the moon
you always wax and wane.
Detestable life,
at first you torture us,
and then whimsically,
you grant our desires.
As the sun melts the ice,
so do you dissolve
both poverty and power.

Monstrous destiny
and empty fate,
an ever turning wheel,
who make adversity
and fickle health
alike turn to nothing.
In darkness
and secrecy
you work against us;
how through your trickery
our vulnerable backs,
naked, are turned to you.

You withdraw
our graces
and our strength.
You threaten
our emotions
and weaknesses
with torture.
Now friends, don't wait!
Let's play our black music,
for fate crushes the strong---
everyone despair with me.
