Boycott, Divest From, and Sanction Israel?: A Debate on BDS with Omar Barghouti and Rabbi Arthur Waskow

In 2005, a coalition of Palestinian civil society groups called for people all over the world to engage in a nonviolent campaign to boycott, divest from and sanction Israel until it complies with international law. The call was inspired by the international boycott and divestment initiatives applied to South Africa in the struggle to abolish apartheid. We host a debate between Omar Barghouti, a founding member of the BDS campaign and a Palestinian human rights activist and commentator, and Rabbi Arthur Waskow, a longtime antiwar and civil rights activist who is the founder and director of the Shalom Center.

It is amazing to watch this "peace-loving" Jewish rabbi who used to active against the South African regimes yet now trying to make all kinds of excuses for the ZioNAZI system of inhumane & brutal apartheid in Palestine. BDS is a correct measure. Nobody is going to wait for the US to change its policies. Policies that are set by the Israeli lobby who blackmails the whole Congress.

@MrWhassa specifically the USA federal government. don't blame the people because they know what's going on, they just don't know exactly how to stop it. when this has happened to other countries it was always americans that came and helped them out of the jam. i think a lot of americans hope the other countries would have come to our aid but that hasn't happened.

If you really want to divest from a country that has and continues to violate human rights, divest from China. I'm not excusing Israel or saying that it hasn't violated human rights, but let's be realistic: it has to play tough because it lives in a tough neighborhood. If people really want to help both Israelis and Palestinians, they should begin to pressure Obama to help broker a Two State Solution.
