  • This one sends me back to outerspace.

    Dig it! K A N S A S

Song for America. My home sweet home, done by KANSAS, and the best orchestra on planet Earth. VERY Beautiful. Merry Christmas!

  • Agreed! Merry Christmas to you also!

  • This is unbelievable!!!

My Dad always says he'd love to see what the great classical composers would have thought of Kansas' music, how they may have interpreted it, and what they would have done with the instruments Kansas used. I think if they were making music in the 70's it would sound like this!

    Yet another great post, cheers!!

  • Oh by the way, if you haven't heard it yet check out "Eleanor Rigby " from this album (see related videos). It is only the second cover Kansas has ever recorded on an album and it is awesome!

  • OK this is fantastic and I really like Kansas, but no match for Genesis I'm afraid, Tony Banks can do the same thing with keyboards that kansas need both a violin and keyboards to do, pick any track from Selling England By the Pound which came out the same year and the SFA album

  • Why the need for comparison? What prompted you to denigrate something you obviously sought out (after all your here on this post) I didn't see a competition brewing here. If you like Genesis so much why don't you go to a Genesis post and write something positive! As for your speculation on Tony Banks and his playing, it's an opinion which is subjective. I prefer SFA to SEBTP by Genesis! And I disagree with your assertions. Just my opinion!

  • Wow, this made my hair on my arms stand up.

  • very nicely handled and well said. Just someone posting trying to sound smart and be cool a wanna be musical elitist .Comparisons are best left to the wayside when it comes to music, it's all in the ear of the beholder

  • Incredible! I always classify Kansas as "Orchestral Rock." And this version of this song with LSO just cements it! Bravo!!

  • I can't say anything about this song. absolutely speechless... it's Pure Music, Pure Art. these people are the real artists.

  • Kansas is coming to play a concert at James Madison University tonight!!! They are performing with our Symphonic orchestra! It's going to be awesome!!

  • @srjones57 Tony Banks is the greatest influence on my playing, but I've seen Kansas live many times and Steve Walsh not only plays all the keyboard parts but alos has to sing the lead vocals. He doesn't miss a beat.

  • @rickyon i agree, why the comparison? point of know return album was simply years ahead of its time...

  • I used to have this album but lost it grrr. Thought I'd lucked out when I found a budget release "Dust in the Wind" album which featured the same tracks - almost! Two of the best tracks "Preamble" and "Prelude and Introduction" aren't on it I guess cos they feature snippets of Beatles songs, licensing agreements etc. double grr. anyone know where I can get hold of those tracks, without having to buy the album for the THIRD time! Not on spyTunes :-(

  • ?????????????????????????????

  • As far as classical influences are concerned, Genesis were more Bach while Kansas were more Copland. Genesis used European influences almost exclusively, they refused to mix blues or country/western into their repertoire (although they did use a small amount of jazz, which is another American style). Kansas used blues and country, but not much jazz.

  • the whole album i mean. my goofy uncle gave me this album because he didnt like it...imagine that.
