There are reasons why the UN could not fire at the Serbs. However if the UN had not been there then NATO would most likely not have intervened and the war would have continued. Now the UN is working towards changing the way they are forced to act during these situations. I believe that there is still hope for the UN and that they will prove themselves worthy of out trust within our lifetime.

So be open-minded and optimistic instead of ignorant and pesismistic...

At two different occasions the Swedish/Danish battalion was in firefights with the Serbs. The Serbs engaged the Swedish OP with T-54 tanks and mortars. At least two Serb tanks were destroyed or severly damaged. At one occasion Swedish troops indicated with laser pointers for NATO aircraft against Serb artillery which resulted in at least three destroyed artillery pieces. So I would say UN did something. And I know, I was there.

they didnt fire at the serbs because they wanted that whole yugoslavia is in war with each other because we were a great country

now half of bosnia is called republika srpska, 15% of it is called croat federation, and the other 35% of it is called BIH

@jollandudexxx the u.n is an ass hole organazation. geared toward the muslims. and begging for money from the united states after muslims bomb our towers. if they wanted to fly a plane into new york. why wasnt it the u,n building????? the u.n needs to keep their nose out of stuff. if the serbs were left to conduct the war , like a war the outcome would have been much different. did the u.n hinder the allies against hitler?? no ,why they gotta pull stuff now.

The main problem was not UN presence in BiH. The problem was the decission to send you as peace keepers in a country with ongoing war which also has been attacked without rights to selfdefence. I mean primarily weapon embargo impossed by UN. Each time USA wanted to come in and solve problem, Britain has claimed that it would jeoparize safety of UN soldiers in Bosnia. Sending you to Bosnia as NATO 1992 would stop war and agression at once, but Britain did not want that!
