Hi, my name is Mae and I love gymnastics. Lately I've been very upset knowing my parents did not start me at the sport at a very young age. Now I am really in love with gymnastics and want to go somewhere kind of big. Not very big because I started around age 10 which is a very old age to start so that's out of the picture. But I was wondering if I started at 10, can I get really good if I work very hard? I'm working as hard as I can now and can't wait to get better! Please respond with help!

While starting young does help it comes down to determination, Alicia Sacramone didn't start until she was almost 9 and look at all she has accomplished. Just give it your all and have fun in the process. The skills, discipline, toughness and determination you build will stay with you a life time. I'm very thankful for my gymnastics background and the skills it has given me to help accomplish my goals

I'm not really familiar with gymnastics, but I like watching. Why does Nastia do all those hand motions before she starts her beam routine?

most athletes regardless of sport form routines before they do whatever it is they are going to do, it's all about repetition, just like how basketball players do the same motions prior to shooting a free throw

Is it still possible to be in the Olympics if you started at age 11? I really want to be in the Olympics, I'd do anything for it. But my parents didn't want to to do any physical activities and I didn't enroll till now. I heard you have to be like age 11 or 13 and level 9 or 10 to be in the Olympics.
