Keep Your Eyes On The Prize (Gospel Plow)

David Summerford plays multiple instruments and sings the inspirational gospel song that is closely associated with the Civil Rights movement in America. I first heard this song as a child with Mahalia Jackson belting out a sermon in song as she admonished my young heart to put my hand on the plow and hold on. Other versions of the song mention keeping your eyes on the prize. (So I compromised and put both in this song) But whether eyes or hands the message is the same. Persistence and sacrificial commitment are necessary to accomplish social change. Dulcimers and Guitars are backed up by drums and a Hammond organ as vivid scenes from the civil rights movement are framed on screen.

That's United States Congressman John Lewis from Atlanta. As a young man he joined a youth organization in the civil rights movement and had his head bashed in by billy club wielding policemen.
