Footage from the Royal Australian Air Force F-111 retirement ceremony held at RAAF base Amberley on Friday December 3 2010.

Six F-111s took part in the flight along with two F/A-18F Super Hornets.

The RAAF bought 24 F-111s which went into service in 1973 as a replacement for the Canberra Bomber.
After 37 years of service the F-111 is now being replaced by the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

  • I do wish Fumbaga would not call them Aardvarks when refering to Aussie ships.

We call them Pigs. They operate with their noses down in the weeds,

And from my reading on the history of the F-111, the US never called them Aardarks until after they were withdrawn from service. Any how not to detract in any way from what they want to call them, just dont call the Aussie ones that. Respect ;)

  • we should store our old war birds just incase and have a male prime minister Australia has lost the plot

  • @BoneyardWrangler, actually we did call them Aardvarks while they were still in service. Either way an Ardvark or a Pig it is sad knowing they are not in the sky!

  • 2:40 I dunno! lol

  • @BoneyardWrangler eat a douche you wanker.

  • @fredfungalspore no we should store gillard in a hermetically sealed box and ship her off to wales, she has lost the plot

  • there is nothing on this earth that compares to the pig when you see a dump and burn and vertical disappearing act of this underated machine ,been lucky enough to witness it 4 times in my life, one word sums it up ,phat, seen them doing bomb runs at evans head also, what a sight to see when we were on china beach on approach, awsome bit of kit that was ahead of it,s time.

  • Should have given the US the bird in the first place & gone with the TSR.2 !!!

  • Is that actual ordnance on the hardpoints whilst they were allowing civies with to walk within touching distance?

  • @VigilanteAgumon Thanks for the information. :-)

  • @rampking1 Both the F-111C and F-111G had the larger wingspan and undercarriage, with the -G models being converted FB-111As.
