@ZoomZip I'm not totally sure about Dante. I think he was in his best days around 2004-2006 or so, which was probably also when Brazil was the strongest. Of course, they are still the strongest in the world. Dante's young son had health problems too, I can't remember when that was, but it was in the last few years. Perhaps this is part of the reason Dante doesn't seem quite as strong as he used to. But again, i'm not totally sure about all of this.
@oryxfreeride oh and lastly, i was watching this whole game, why happened to Dante? He didn't seem like his old self. Balls he was getting set he would've usually crushed, he couldnt. it looked like he was rusty and not hitting as hard as he use to. Is it just age catching up with him?
@oryxfreeride thanks for the great info. i did not know Heller was a sub, he is such a great attacker and doesnt even look like a sub! why do Giba and Heller play in Brazil, dont you think they could make more money overseas, like in Greece or Russia?
Also, how do you know about this information, where do you find out about it. And I agree with Murilo, he is so fantastic. i think he is about 6'4, but is a very smart hitter and can crush
@ZoomZip Heller was usually a sub for Rodrigao and Gustavo. He still had a lot of play time though, partially due to injuries but also because he was sometimes effective as a starter. In Brazil they have some of the best players in the world as subs, or not even on the national team. I think that both Andre and Andre-Heller retired from the NT after Olympics, to let the young guys train for 2012. Of course they still play pro volleyball, in Brazil, I think Heller is on the same team as Giba.
@ZoomZip Giba had a shoulder injury. He came in at a few points during the WC, and could still be somewhat effective, but he wasn't healthy enough to start. Murilo played incredibly.. he used to be a sub, but now I say he his hands down the best left side in the world, as far as all-around, smart play, and consistency go, and still a very strong attacker. Of course, maybe Giba is comparable too.
The fact that Giba wasn't playing and Dante didn't play so well shows you the depth of Brazil's mens volleyball.
