Bob Costas continued to explain his gun control remarks from Sunday Night Football on Bill O'Reilly's show tonight. While O'Reilly agreed that Costas was being unfairly tarred in the media for his remarks, he did challenge the NBC broadcaster's assertion about the disturbing nature of the gun culture in the United States, telling Costas that owning a gun makes people feel safer in bad situations. by Josh Feldman mediaite . com

He even admitted he is not well studied. Second those "peer reviewed studies" that back up Costa's statements turned out to be out right scams and hatchet jobs. I could pick out quite a few things he said that were outright lies and sensationalism in this interview alone.

You know that same "it is only going to make the situation bloodier" has been used by the gun control lobby from everything to CCW to now "Gun Free Zones", these incidents don't seem to materialize. I suppose that it seems very plausible that something like this could happen but when you know more you understand that the scenario the gun control lobby describes you learn that they are fear mongering and conjuring up a situation that is not as likely to happen as you may intuitively think.

I would rather have a gun than be at the mercy of somebody else's. I see two sides though, it could turn into a mess, but at the same time whos to say if that guy got killed early on everyone would have been safe.

Artillery pieces were used in Aurora now? BTW, the AR-15 is preferred by many firearms enthusiasts and is a hell of a lot less likely to be abused. Bob did not do his research before he opened his mouth to talk about a problem he has no idea of the roots too. As for Bill, he could have gone to town even more on Bob over some of the statements he made that have already been proven as nothing more than gun control lobby paranoia.

This man (Bob Costas) has clearly thought about this issue and is educated about it. I have no idea what you're talking about. Most peer reviewed studies in the criminological literature support Costas' statements about the American gun culture and the fact that possessing a firearm does not "avoid" tragedies. Although I sometimes agree with Bill O'Reilly, he comes across as a total moron here.
