Βίκυ Λέανδρος - Vicky Leandros - Noch einmal (vinyl)

In about mid 1969 (not sure about this) Vicky released her "Ich glaub' an dich" album (Cat. No. Philips 844 386 PY), another milestone in her career, which is the passage from the "teenager" period to the "mature" one..The prodigy kid becomes an accomplished artist, the teenager girly is now a grown beautiful woman.This transition completed with the 1971 "Ich Bin" album..Vicky with this album, showed the world that has much more to say as an artist than expected from her, and for sure came to stay for long. The "Ich glaub an dich" corresponds more or less with the "I mikri mas istoria" Greek release and the Canadian one "Zoom sur Vicky", as share all of them most of the tracks.
The song we listen to is the fabulous "Noch Einmal" which is a cover in German of the 1967 Nilsson's hit "Without Her".. There are also the English version "Without Him", the french "Mon coeur sous les drapeaux" and of course the marvellous Greek one "Cheilia pou dipsoun gia agapi", included in the "I mikri mas istoria" album of the same year... Klaus Munro is credited for the adaptation of Nilsson's classic hit and the final result is very loosely based to the original, being something very different, more erotic and "jazzy", and for sure a wonderful song, performed brilliantly by Vicky.
In the video we see the photos of album cover's artwork, very nice ones indeed, showing Vicky in a boat picking waterlilys, in front of a windmill, performing in front of an audience (that's one is in fact a graphic arts artist's job...)..Oh, and the funny one, which reminds us that Vicky was still a happy kid, or at least had something of a kid's mood in 1969..The track list is shown with thumbnails, like a slide show, with Vicky in various poses sitting in a small boat...And of course the very beautiful photos of the front and the back..The front one was used as the back cover photo of the 1st pressing of the Greek LP "H mikri mas istoria", which now is quite hard to find. Also I incorporated two small video segments from her 1970 "Ich bin..Vicky Leandros" TV special at the beginning and at the end. "einmal, sagt' man ist, doch keinmal...kuess mich gleich..noch einmal...ja, einmal ist, doch keinmal"....wow, how erotic and full of promises could be Vicky!! Just wonderful!!!
The equipment used for the transfer is Pro-Ject Debut III turntable with Ortofon OM5E cartridge, a home made phono stage using Burr Brown OPA2134 dual op-amp and styroflex caps, carefully hand-picked for best accuracy of the RIAA curve, and the internal AC-97 soundcard of my desktop PC with Audacity as the recording software. Between line-in of the PC and the output of the phono preamp, I used a single vacuum tube home made line preamplifier. It was made with a single double-triode vintage GE 12AU7 (ECC82) tube from the 50's and IRF610A MOSFET's.
The sound quality of this track, and also of the entire album, is very good, with the typical clarity and high definition of the German pressings. My copy is in almost mint condition and has very good dynamics, well defined highs and lows and overall is a high quality mastering job. I feel that the use of the 1st generation studio master tapes contributed highly to the overall high sound quality.
Enjoy the erotic Vicky on this beautiful jazzy tune (and watch out, she might be somewhere on a bulldozer!!!)
