  • Is 1450 still mainline runable?

  • @benskiproductions I don't believe that is is :-(

  • nice 10* WISH THEY WOULD RUN IT A AGAIN I THINK AT THAT TIME IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AT THE DART VALLEY RAILWAY (SOUTH DEVONRAILWAY) im only guesting because i was not born then but seeing old vid and my dads old photos .

  • @5029tom 1450 was purchased for preservation from BR by the Dart Valley Railway in 1966 It's been in private ownership since 1994.

The name 'Dawlish Donkey' was a kind of hybrid taking the name of the 'Marlow Donkey', operated by the GWR using a 14xx and auto trailer, and Past Time Rail operator's scheme to run this loco along the seaside, where donkeys are used as a attraction to pass the time away for young children whilst on a beach holiday - Dawlish being a seaside town.

  • cool thanks for that info

  • You're welcome.

  • will they ever do it again

  • Great footage.Pluckey little engine.

  • Sadly i think we will be unlikely to see a locomotive such as this one running on the mainline again as they cannot haul a long enough train to make trips commercially viable.

  • The Donkey has long since stopped running. I doubt we'l see something like this again :(
